Pupils at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û's Smarden School Primary & Nursery School win a 2024 sustainability competition.

A group of 5 мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û pupils from Smarden Primary & Nursery School in Ashford, were delighted to win a sustainability competition this Spring. 

Led by Year R teacher Lara Ward, the team of pupils worked together to interview a local shop employee on ways the shop reduced waste and supported the local community. The children learned how the shop tries to reduce single-use plastics, how it buys produce and stock locally, and encourages customers to use refill cups.

Winners were presented in school, with certificates and special gift vouchers for reading books, proudly supported by . There was a £100 gift card as a prize for the school, and each of the children won £20 gift cards to spend on books of their choice.

Headteacher Mrs Claudia Miller said:

"We are very proud of our team of eco-warriors - well done all of you!"
